Frequently Asked Questions
How to have your course listed
To have your RTO and courses listed on the Skills SA Course Search on the My Training website, you need to:
1. Hold an active Funded Activities Agreement (FAA)
Ensure your FAA with the Department is current with the appropriate annexure for the delivery of subsidised training. Without an active FAA, you cannot create Training Accounts, and we cannot subsidise your courses.
2. Confirm courses are on your scope and the Subsidised Training List (STL)
Verify that your courses are listed on your scope at training.gov.au (TGA) and are included in the latest STL, available at the Subsidised Training List.
3. Express your interest
Contact us at SkillsContracts@sa.gov.au to inform us that you wish to be listed on the Skills SA Course Search website.
4. Complete the latest Course Offerings Template
We will provide you with a prepopulated Excel template tailored to your RTO. Complete this template with specific details about your course offerings, including student fees, delivery methods, locations, schedules, and contact information.
5. Submit the completed template
Email the completed template back to SkillsContracts@sa.gov.au for processing
RTOs are not automatically listed upon obtaining an FAA because we require specific information directly from you to accurately represent your courses. We need details such as which courses you are offering, delivery methods and locations, intake details, student fees, and contact information. Without your input, we cannot assume these details. Therefore, you are encouraged to contact us to express your interest and provide the necessary information by completing the Course Offerings Template.
No, you can only list subsidised courses that are on your FAA scope, because the Skills SA Course Search only displays details of subsidised courses.
Completing the template
To complete the template effectively:
- Follow the instructions carefully - Detailed guidelines are provided within the template to assist you.
- Use the validation feature - The first column includes an auto-checking system that indicates whether a row is complete and correctly filled out (green tick) or if there are errors or incomplete information (red cross).
- Provide accurate information - Fill in all required fields, such as course details, delivery methods, fees, and locations.
- Do not alter the template structure - Do not add or remove courses manually. If the template doesn't reflect your current scope, request an updated version from us.
- RTO Summary guidelines - Provide a brief, objective overview of your organisation without including contact details, promotional content, or listing qualifications not on your scope.
If you encounter issues, please contact us at SkillsContracts@sa.gov.au for support.
The 'RTO Summary' is your opportunity to provide a concise and informative overview of your RTO to prospective students.
In this section, you should:
- Provide a Brief Overview of Your Organisation - Describe who you are, and the training services you offer. Highlight your areas of expertise or specialisation and mention the industries or sectors you focus on.
- Highlight Your Training Approach - Explain your training methods, such as practical hands-on learning or online courses. Mention any unique facilities or resources that enhance the learning experience.
- Emphasise Your Commitment to Quality - Briefly state your dedication to delivering high-quality training and supporting student success.
Example of an Appropriate 'RTO Summary'
"We are a South Australian RTO specialising in vocational education for the hospitality and tourism industries. Our experienced trainers provide practical learning to equip students with industry-relevant skills. We offer flexible learning options to accommodate diverse student needs."
What to Avoid in Your 'RTO Summary'
- Contact Details - Do not include phone numbers, email addresses, or website links, as these are provided elsewhere in the template.
- Specific Course Listings - Avoid listing individual courses or qualifications; course details are specified in other sections.
- Qualifications Not on Your FAA Scope - Do not mention courses not included in your Funded Activities Agreement (FAA) scope.
- Promotional or Subjective Statements - Refrain from using superlatives or marketing phrases like "the best training provider" or "world-class facilities."
- Irrelevant Information - Do not include details unrelated to your training services.
Please Note:
- We may edit or remove content that doesn't align with Departmental policies or the website's purpose. The goal is to present accurate and relevant information to help students make informed decisions about their subsidised training options.
- New or changes to existing ‘RTO Summaries’ are subject to review by the Department.
If you need assistance reviewing your 'RTO Summary', please contact us at SkillsContracts@sa.gov.au.
If you include content that is subjective, promotional, irrelevant, or inappropriate, we may edit or remove it to align with Departmental policies and the website's purpose. The 'RTO Summary' should focus on providing an objective overview of your organisation without including contact details, promotional statements, or courses not on your FAA scope. Our aim is to present information that is accurate, relevant, and helpful to prospective students.

Please Note: We cannot assume details about new courses or changes due to superseded qualifications without your input, so it is important that you provide us with the necessary information to update the website accurately.
- Your courses may no longer appear on the website due to several reasons:
- Inactive or lapsed FAA - If your FAA is not active, your courses cannot be listed. Please verify your FAA status.
- Courses not on your scope or the STL - The course may have been removed from your scope at TGA or is no longer on the STL.
- Superseded courses - If a course has been superseded and you haven't provided details of the new version, it may be removed from the website.
