Before you get started

Know where you'd like to grow

Unless you already know exactly what you want to do, finding the right course or occupation can feel a bit overwhelming.

The future is in your hands

It’s helpful to start by asking yourself:

  • What interests you or makes you curious?
  • What are you good at?
  • What do you already know about?

The answers to these questions can often uncover your best starting point.

Explore the best way to get there

VET gets you job-ready and you can learn on-the-job (through a traineeship or apprenticeship) or off-the-job.

Whatever your circumstances, there are lots of different ways to access VET courses:

  • some are free or at reduced cost
  • some are delivered online or in person, offered at different times of the day and evening

Before you get started, you might want to read up about subsidised training or Fee Free vocational education and training.

Ease into it
